Diary of an Indie Hacker — Entry 13: The boring day that saved us
Day thirteen: no new features — just the maintenance work that prevents the 2am "why is production down."

No new features today. That's the whole entry, almost.
We cleared the job store, killed duplicate API processes that had been quietly running alongside each other, made sure exactly one instance of the server exists, and fixed the startup script so it actually exports the worker URL it needs. Then we wrote down that reframe was working — because "it works" isn't a fact until someone verifies it is.
These days feel like wasted days while you're in them. They're not. Every duplicated process, every stale queue, every environment variable that only exists on one machine is a bug that hasn't happened yet — a future 2am "why is production down" converted into a non-event. The features get the glory. Days like this are why the features keep working.
If there's a lesson: schedule the boring maintenance. It will never schedule itself.
Next entry: we put the entire app in a box, and everything still worked.
