Diary of an Indie Hacker — Entry 14: Everything works, in a box
Day fourteen: the whole app moves into containers, and "works on my machine" finally equals "works in production."
Originally written November 19, 2025
The migration is done: the whole app now runs in containers. Same behavior, same features — but now "works on my machine" and "works in production" are finally the same sentence. There's a milestone stamped on today: all features working, post-migration.
The unglamorous details: reframe projects now patiently reload until their output exists instead of giving up early, we removed captions from the subtitle source preview where they didn't belong, and the aspect-ratio flag is enabled in the new environment. Plus restoring all of yesterday's UI work inside the new setup.
The real prize isn't the container — it's what it removes. No more "the API runs differently depending on how it was started." One less class of bugs that could only ever be diagnosed by a tired person at the worst possible time. Infrastructure work is invisible until the day it isn't there.
Next entry: the day we became a business — credits, API keys, and two ways to pay.
