Diary of an Indie Hacker — Entry 16: Real users became possible today
Day sixteen: real authentication wired end to end — the least visible work, and the most important.

Yesterday we built a business on mock data. Today it got real: a proper authentication provider is wired end to end — sign-in pages, sign-out, token verification on the backend, automatic refresh, and every API call now carries a real identity instead of a placeholder. Week 2, Day 1.
This is the least visible work we've done and the most important. Until today, every "user" was theoretical. Now there's a real person behind each request, which means everything we built this month — credits, notifications, billing — finally has someone attached to it.
It also quietly changed the failure modes. A bug in auth doesn't mean a feature is broken — it means a person can't get in. Different stakes, same codebase. Tomorrow: the credits UI meets the real backend, and money becomes a real thing that can move.
Next entry: credits go live on screen — and the mobile version finally stops being an afterthought.
