Diary of an Indie Hacker — Entry 2: The "6 issues" sprint

Day two of the build diary: locking dependencies, feature flags, and fixing the six things that were actually broken.

Day two was less glamorous and more important. We'd been moving fast enough that the codebase was starting to fight back — so before touching anything new, we locked every dependency, set up feature flags, and wrote down the six things that were actually broken.

Then we fixed all six: aspect-ratio processing, caption style presets, transcription plumbing, frontend wiring, and a play button that didn't play. Nobody writes songs about dependency locking, but that boring morning is why the next ten months were possible.

There's a lesson in here that took me longer to learn than it should have: the days that feel least productive are usually the ones that compound. Shipping a feature feels like progress. Fixing your foundations feels like procrastination. It's the opposite.

Next entry: the idea that would become the whole product — letting the AI pick the moments.
