Diary of an Indie Hacker — Entry 7: The day we stopped pretending one user at a time was enough
Day seven: a scalability audit, a proper job queue, and two new AI tools shipped in the same day.

Today was the scalability audit — the first time we asked "what breaks when two people use this at once?" and didn't like the answer.
Everything ran in-process. One long video and the whole app held its breath. So we did the boring, correct thing: database connection pooling and a proper job queue, so heavy work happens in the background instead of blocking the request that asked for it. Wrote a full test report. It passed. Merged it.
And then, because apparently that wasn't enough for one day: shipped the AI Reframe and AI Subtitles endpoints and UI, wired them into the video import flow, added caption style previews and file upload to the modals, and fixed a schema field name that had been quietly wrong.
This is the part nobody posts about. No screenshots, no launch. Just infrastructure that means the next feature doesn't fall over. But it's the day the product went from "demo that works on my machine" to "thing that can hold a real user base."
Next entry: live captions — watching subtitles appear on the video while it processes.
